Akshay Kumar’s debut Marathi film, Vedat Marathe Veer Daudale Saat, will not be released during Diwali 2023 as announced earlier. Kumar plays the role of Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the period drama, directed by Mahesh Manjrekar.
As per a report in Bollywood Hungama, the decision to postpone the film’s release was taken to avoid a clash with Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer Tiger 3. A source close to the development told the portal, “The clash between Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan has been avoided. Mahesh Manjrekar and the team will be announcing a new release date shortly. The decision to avert the clash with Tiger3 has been taken in the best financial interest of both the films, as the producers of Veer Daudale Saat are expecting huge numbers from the film in Maharashtra and that won’t be possible in a clash scenario.”
In addition, the source shared that Manjrekar and his team needed more time to complete shooting for the film and create a truly world-class viewing experience for audiences. “The war sequences are taking longer than expected and the team doesn’t wish to come with a half-baked product,” the source added.
Vedat Marathe Veer Daudale Saat is based on the story of seven valiant warriors who had the sole aim of bringing Shivaji Maharaj’s dream of Swarajya to reality. The film is produced by Vaseem Qureshi and also stars Jay Dudhane, Utkarsha Shinde, Vishal Nikam, Virat Madke, Hardik Joshi, Satya, Akshay, Nawab Khan and Praveen Tarde.
