In ARK Saravan’s Veeran, HipHop Tamizha Adhi plays a sluggish young man who has lightning powers. When his village is troubled by corporate giants, the superhero in him comes to the rescue. Basil Joseph’s Minnal Murali (2022), starring Tovino Thomas and Guru Somasundaram, dealt with a similar concept where the superhero gets lightning powers after an accident.
Minnal Murali was celebrated for giving Malayalam cinema its own superhero and Veeran is known as Tamil cinema’s first legit superhero film. The obvious similarities led many fans to compare the two films.
While HipHop Adhi has asserted that Veeran is a different film in his interviews, the makers have come up with a unique promotional strategy to put an end to the speculations. The fun video sees Minnal Murali director Basil Joseph talking to ARK Saravan, editor Prasanna GK and HipHop Adhi.
